Position Description

LifeEnergy is looking for a highly motivated team player to bring knowledge of deregulated energy markets and execution excellence to LifeEnergy.

The individual will be responsible for execution within the following areas: costing, pricing, settlements and structuring retail electricity and natural gas transactions in all of the open markets.

The individual will also perform duties in the area of maintenance, development, and validation of forward price curves for gas and power.

Additional duties will include pulling all the settlements data and verifying the various retail costing inputs to ensure accurate pricing development of the forecasted retail margins.

The individual must have the ability to except new responsibilities and work well in an ever-changing, dynamic atmosphere.

Reporting Relationship

The individual will report to the Director or VP of Supply & Risk.  The success of this individual will depend on his or her ability to build relationships in a start-up environment while developing dynamic reporting and performing analysis based on the needs of the business.  In addition to the VP of Supply & Risk, other critical relationships will include:

  • Director, Product Structuring & Risk
  • VP Operations
  • Director/VP Sales

The Analyst will be responsible for the development of analytical reporting in support of all Supply & Risk requirements.

Experience Required

  • 2+ years experience in business analytical reporting
  • Using the historical usage data, run forecasting process for energy usage expectation and provide pricing to sales team
  • Assist in costing, pricing, and structuring retail electricity and retail and natural gas transactions in PJM, ISO-NE, ISO-NY and ERCOT
  • Assist with maintenance, development, and validation of forward price curves for gas and power
  • Analyze the price risk and volumetric risk associated with serving customers on retail products.
  • Communicate with supply and sales teams regarding cost components & structure of retail power deals
  • Review settlements to ensure accuracy of the load data and comparison of actual portfolio consumption against billed volumes
  • Work with Accounting to review and validate ISO settlement data
  • Maintain costing model assumptions and prices for structured retail products
  • Book executed retail transactions into risk system
  • Help confirm commercial customer transactions into the deal entry system(s)
  • Manage and validate booking of deals into systems
  • Assist with development, testing and maintenance of application platforms.
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis on market fundamentals, pricing components, and risk exposures associated with deals.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned
  • Ability to lead research for new products, product enhancements, and product redesign, as well as evaluate the potential and practicality of products in development

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required – preferred majors include Finance, Mathematics, Economics
  • Must be a US Citizen, or hold a valid work visa that does not require sponsorship in order to legally work full-time in the United States
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and advanced reporting tools
  • Advanced database administration skills
  • Advanced SQL skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a sense of personal initiative and the ability to work independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced report automation skills
